The Güell Palace is closed due to restoration works

We're closed to complete the restoration of Güell Palace

Since 1 February 2008, when it was partially opened to the public, more than 360,000 people have visited Güell Palace, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and built by architect Antoni Gaudí at the end of the nineteenth century under the patronage of Eusebi Güell.

Since the end of 2004, this singular building, which marks the beginning of the Art Nouveau movement in Europe, has been undergoing painstaking restoration to ensure its conservation for present and future generations. The restoration work centres on the building, its rich interior decoration in stone, iron, wood, glass and ceramics, and the furniture and art collections it houses.

From 2010 onwards Güell Palace is closed to the public for the final stage of restoration, which will last until April 2011. Then, fully restored to its former glory, the whole palace will once again open its doors to visitors.

Until the reopening Barcelona Provincial Council will be concentrating its efforts on drawing up an innovative approach to museography, preparing a museological project and developing a management plan that responds to the new challenges of accessibility, educational and cultural commitment, communication and dissemination and social cohesion.
