On 2 November 1984, the Palau Güell was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This declaration officially recognised its exceptional universal value and unique character as a masterpiece of human creativity.
The Barcelona Provincial Council, as owner of Palau Güell, is committed to preserving this World Heritage Site to benefit both current and future generations, as a source of inspiration and an irreplaceable jewel that forms part of our heritage.
The inclusion of the Palau Güell on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites, under the entry of Works of Antoni Gaudí, was accompanied by the inclusion of other work by the architect: Parc Güell and Casa Milà (in 1984) and Casa Batlló, the crypt at the Colònia Güell, the façade of the Nativity and the crypt of the Sagrada Família and also Casa Vicens (in 2005).
