Palau Güell is looking for ambassadors

Jaume and Joan Almirall were the sons of the concierge at number 12 Carrer de Nou de la Rambla (previously Carrer de Conde del Asalto), in front of Palau Güell. Jaume, now aged 86, has provided us with this photo from 1932. Thanks to their own personal accounts, we know that, during the Spanish Civil War, the residents of Carrer de Conde del Asalto used Palau Güell stables as an air raid shelter. If your grandparents or neighbours also have information or photos, please let us know!

As part of the 125th anniversary of the building's inauguration, Palau Güell is asking citizens to send any material they may have or provide further information from the period between 1886, the year when construction started on the building, up to 1945, when it was taken over by Barcelona Provincial Council.
